postgraduate and graduate schools can take part in the Scholarship Program
The Foundation runs long-term scholarship and grant programs for talented students and faculty at Russia’s leading public and private higher educational institutions, as well as for museum staff, sports professionals, and experts in endowment creation and development.

The Foundation staff have been active participants in building a community of professionals in the non-profit sector in Russia, promoting the use of best practices and modern methods in operating philanthropic organizations. 

The Vladimir Potanin Foundation is a member of the European Foundation Center and a founding member of Russia Donors Forum. 

Vladimir Potanin, the Foundation’s creator, is the founder and President of Interros and the President - Chairman of the Management Board of Norilsk Nickel, MMC.

Larisa Zelkova, the Foundation’s Chairman of the Board, is a member of the Russian Federation Presidential Council for Culture and Art and a member of the Public Council of the Russian Federation Ministry of Culture.

Researchers compared the 300 most affluent business people and upper-level managers in the largest companies in Russia, both state-owned and private. The ranking was compiled based on the number of mentions in Russia’s main media outlets between January 1 and December 31, 2016; additionally, researchers analyzed print material from 100 leading foreign newspapers and magazines.  Both Forbes and the readers selected Vladimir Potanin as an Entrepreneur with a track record of achievement in large-scale projects that benefit society.

The “KOLLEKTSIA! CONTEMPORARY ART IN THE URSS AND RUSSIA 1950-2000. A MAJOR DONATION” exhibition opened at the Pompidou Center on September 13, 2016. A collection of Russian art of the second half of the20th century, unprecedented in scope, was initiated by and assembled with the active participation of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation, and in close cooperation with philanthropists, art collectors, and artists. Under a joint project of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation and the Pompidou Center, the Center became the owner of one of the best collections of Russian and Soviet modern art for the period from 1950 to 2000.

In 2011 Vladimir Potanin made a donation to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to celebrate the Center’s forty year anniversary. As a result of the collaboration between the Foundation and the Center with the support of the Embassy of the Russia to the US a reconstruction of the largest Lounge of the Center took place.

Vladimir Potanin Foundation was places seventh in the list in terms of the budget size with a budget of 336.5 million rubles in 2014.

This year the Foundation received 419 applications from different Russian museums. The expert council selected winners in 18 nominations. In 2016, «Museums and Museum Community» nomination became the most popular category among Russian museum professionals, with almost 160 application received.

This year the biggest program of the charity foundation that supports innovations in Russian museums celebrates 10-year anniversary. Grants, which are given on competitive ground, are supposed for museum projects that drive new information technologies to expositions, promote museum programs via internet, provide equal opportunities for different audiences, make contacts with other museums, local businesses, authorities and organizations from different fields. Contestants have the opportunity to study, get career growth, share the experience with colleagues from different regions.
